Inquiry into Plate Tectonics

The "Our Dynamic Planet" CDROM is a powerful tool for investigating data that supports the theory of plate tectonics. It allows the learner to access, display, and print elevation profiles, earthquakes, volcanoes, seafloor and island ages, and heat flow. Extensive online help is available. In addition, it includes a 30 minute video explaining the theory of plate tectonics, a geography game to help learners recognize the important features on a world map, and a profile game to teach how to visualize geological structures using elevation profiles. It has been used in middle school, high school, and higher education settings. The software runs on Mac (PowerPC) and PC (Windows XP/Windows2000/WindowsNT) computers.
