Dinners: informal dining at local Hood River restaurants.

Please keep notes during the meeting. The last day will be devoted to the creation of a summary report. Since this is the last year of the project, I need something for the final report.

Day 1, Tuesday, August 7.

11:00 AM	LWD Software walkthrough and installation on members’ computers.	A quick walk-thru to demonstrate LWD conventions and organization

1:30 PM	Presentation by Emily Diefendorf-"Science Writing For Learning"	Background,theory, studies of student writing. Examples of student writing.
2:00 PM	Discussion of Emily’s results and writing in general
3:00 PM	Break
3:30 PM	Discussion of the use of online technology in the classroom. What are the needs, met and unmet?	I’d like to see a general discussion that results in a list of important activities or technologies that can be supported in an online environment, challenges, and solutions.
5:00 PM	Adjourn
6:30 PM	Meet at Bill’s Cottage at Northwestern Lake for dinner	Driving instructions are provided on the web site.

Day 2, Wednesday, August 8.

1:30 PM	Michelle Kinzel	Using gaming pedagogy to engage students in learning activities.
2:00	Discussion	Feedback to Michelle and discussion of gaming to support learning.

3:30 PM	The Fishing Game. Multi-User version of Fishbanks.	FishBanks is a multi-user game that demonstrates the “Tragedy of the Commons”

Day 3, Thursday, August 9.
